Third day of WTT Youth Contender in Havířov saw three finals. U11, U13 and U17 girls finished their competitions. Three Czech players advanced to the semifinals, but none of them made it to the final.
Both Hanka Kodetová and Simona Holubová went out in the semifinal of U11 tournament. Ukrainian Diana Koliennikova won the gold as she defeated German Josephina Neumann in the final.
Veronika Poláková also fought for the final in U13 category. She played a very even match with the top seed French Leana Hochart. She won the first set, then lost two but fought back to make it 2:2. Only two points seperated the two in the decisive set as Hochart won 11:9 and advanced to the final. The French player then went on to win the tournament, beating her compatriot Gaetane Bled in a five-game thriller.
Czech Junior Helena Sommerová made it to the quarterfinals in U17 category, where she met Italian Nicole Arlia. The Czech junior couldn’t find the rythm and eventually lost 0:3. The Italian then crashed out in the semifinals and the final was set between Romainian Elena Zakaria and German Anett Kaufmann. The Romainian was better on the day as the two-time Cadet European Champion beat her opponent 3:2.
Girls tournament will climax on Wednesday with the final matches of U15 and U19 categories. There will be a lot of Czech colors especially in the older category. In the forenoon program of the second day all Linda Záděrová, Kristýna Pěnkavová, Tereza Bártová, Jana Vašendová, Helena Sommerová and Klára Hrabicová advanced to the U19 play offs. In U15 category it was Magdaléna Ščibrániová, Anna Holejšovská and Adéla Zoubková who progressed further.
